Capricorn Anderson has never watched TV, been to a regular school, or socialized with other children his age, but at thirteen he knows how to drive a truck. He's picked up by the police when driving his grandmother Rain to the hospital after she falls out of a tree (she was picking plums on the 60s style commune they live on) and breaks her hip.
While Rain is recuperating in the hospital, Cap is dropped into the bowels of hell - um - I mean middle school. He is so wildly different than everyone that he can't seem to keep everyone from staring at him. He doesn't even realize what a freak everyone thinks he is. He doesn't realize that he was elected 8th grade class president as a joke. He doesn't realize that the kids at school are setting him up to fail and make a fool of himself.
Yet will the tables turn on the students of Claverage Middle school? Will they realize Cap has become ingrained in their hearts before it's too late?
Full of mishaps and absurdity, this book is a perfect middle school read. It's especially good for a good laugh.
