The Peter Pan story with a dystopian twist! This is a clever retelling and my entire listen of the book, I kept thinking, this is so cool how the author made it fit!
Captain Hook, the son of the Blood Red Queen (of Germany), is sent by his mother to capture England. He bombs the live munition lab and releases a deadly virus that pretty much wipes out all the adult population of England and most of the children and practically all the women. If the virus has spread to the rest of the world, the human race is at risk. When Gwen's little sister is captured by Hook, she sets out to rescue her. Then she meets Pete and the Lost Boys, a group of boys who are surviving underground. Together, they try to rescue Joann.
There are lots of twists and turns to the plot.
There are lots of "mom issues" between Hook and his mother.
This is a great read. I'm curious to read the rest.
