I really enjoyed read this book.
Joss Byrd is a child actress with a somewhat self-serving mother, who is on a difficult film shoot. She is playing a child abused by her step-father. She also holds a secret. Though she isn't diagnosed, she is most probably dyslexic, which makes it difficult to master her lines. Joss learns a lot about people and mostly about herself in this book, as she learns coping strategies for her disability and learns how to stand up for herself.
The narration flows and the plot really pushes along while the characters, there are many, drift in and out of the story. But what bothered me about this book was the cover! It is a super inviting cover, but the photos make it seem like Joss Byrd is in her upper teens. Yet it clearly states that she is only 12 and looks like a young 12. Young enough to play a 10-year-old.
